The Scipio Project is an initiative from ilipa Ventures Ltd.
The founding members of The Scipio Project are collectively known as ‘Custodians’.
They are highly experienced business professionals and organisations which contribute a range of business products and services to the Coop Community.
They recognise the need for business to embrace innovation; the understand how it is vitally important for our society that businesses make genuine profits, so they can in turn meaningfully contribute to our communities, and to promote values of equitable opportunity for all.

In most jurisdictions, the law limits the opportunity for ‘anyone’ to take a risk and share in potentially high returns from their investment. Only people identified by the government as ‘sophisticated investors’ have that opportunity.
Through The Scipio Project, we enable our members, who embrace our ethos the opportunity to invest in our projects and share in the long term wealth creation benefits which follow.
We call our member-investors ‘Supporters’.
The typical legal framework for a business to raise capital without becoming a public company is usually covered in an ‘excluded offer’ provisions of the Corporations Act.
This usually allows a company to raise up to $2m from 20 retail investors over any 12-month period (20/12/2 rule) through personal offers.
This means means people must invest a minimum of $25-100k, making it unrealistic for most investors.
Through The Scipio Project, we enable our members, who embrace our ethos the opportunity to invest in our projects and share in the long term wealth creation benefits which follow.
We call our member-investors ‘Supporters’.

As your investment is in a co-operative, your investment will be via a security called a CCU. You will receive a CCU certificate.

Custodians are the founding individuals and businesses who created the cooperative and provide the initial products and services to our members.
The Scipio Project is named after a famous Roman General and historical figure, Scipio Africanus.
His victory in the 'battle of ilipa' against the commander Hannibal during the Second Punic War in 206 BC is regarded as one of the greatest military victories in history.
It also provides a connection to ilipa Ventures group who founded The Scipio Project and offers many of the custodian company services.
